Chronicles of a Lone Beast

Lu Li, a high school student from Linyuan City, enters the mysterious Kunlun Academy with a faint, unspeakable trace of Beast God blood in his veins (rating: E) and a baffling letter of admission. Here, bloodline rank (SSS-F) determines everything. One hundred and eighteen strange abilities compete, and hunting down rampaging ancient Beast God species is the law of survival.

Struggling in the lowest-ranked class, Lu Li has a power hidden inside him that even he fears. Beside the warm smile of his close friend Lin Wan, behind the sturdy shoulder of the brawny Lei Lie, and under the scrutinizing gaze of the icy upperclasswoman Chu Yingxue, that power sometimes slips out of control, tearing through the darkness and his ordinary life alike.

As the roars of Beast God species draw ever closer, the shadows of the academy's leadership loom overhead, and keepsakes from old friends reveal a buried history of blood, Lu Li discovers in horror that he is no good-for-nothing. He is the calamity itself. The power that saves others is the very source of their destruction: he is the reincarnation of the supreme being known as the Qilin, once said to have fallen from the pinnacle of all living things.

Past glory becomes a shackle, and close companions become a choice he must make. To end the curse of his bloodline and protect the last vestige of his humanity, Lu Li must embrace the crown of destiny, wield the supreme power over all creation, and tread a path forged in blood, one that is destined to leave him a lonely king. Before him lies the world's hostility; behind him, the tombstones of those he once knew. He can only walk this road to its end alone, and in a land where no one is present, be crowned king.
