Wasteland Mechanic

In Gear Fortress, Helian Jin is a “wasteland mechanic” who married into the Xin family on the strength of his repair skills, leaving him in an awkward position. During an expedition deep into a mech graveyard, he makes an unexpected discovery among the wreckage: a strange chip capable of transmitting faint “whispers.” It is not a combat core, but something more like a “memory.” Through clumsy yet dogged reverse engineering, he deciphers an ancient “mechanical symbiosis protocol.” It is not about enslavement, but partnership. He rebuilds scrapped parts into “iron mules” that can haul bricks, carry water, and generate electricity, powered by the decaying energy of discarded nuclear batteries. With every repair, he struggles to balance the cold lifespan of the metal against the chip’s hazy sense of “existence.” When the energy magnate Rock Group tries to monopolize all technology, Helian Jin chooses to release his “iron mule” blueprints and the “symbiosis protocol” to the public, stirring up a storm in the wasteland over “who should own technology and who should define machines.” His goal is not to become a hero, but to build a “Wasteland Mechanical Symbiosis Commune” where broken machines are treated with the same dignity as people.
