The Odyssey of Homeric Mythology

How much more abundant plain prose is! It lacks the beauty of elegant classical language. Whenever I read histories written in classical Chinese, my mind reaches one climax after another. Some say that classical Chinese cannot express subtle feelings, so plain prose is better for translation. Isn't that utter nonsense?

For nearly fifty years, classical Chinese has all but disappeared. If things continue this way, with no fresh water flowing in, the language will die out.

I am no great talent, but I wish to translate Western classics into classical Chinese. I know readers will be few, yet this is not for people of today or those to come, but for people of the past. A pot of tea, a fan in hand, reading beneath the paulownia shade, then burning the book when finished to pay tribute to our forebears: is that not a joy?

I am now attempting to translate Homer's Odyssey into classical Chinese as The Odyssey of Homeric Myth. It may be the first complete translation in classical Chinese, and perhaps worth a look.
