War Drove Me to a Hidden Paradise

In the final years of the Great Zhou dynasty, war raged in the north as northern cavalry rode south to raid and plunder. Ningjia Village was reduced to ashes overnight, and Ning Wanqing, the village doctor’s daughter, set out on the road as a refugee with her young brother. When fleeing refugees descended on them to seize their belongings, her brother was lost in the chaos. Just as Ning Wanqing was overcome with despair, she met Ji Linyuan, a former general wanted by the imperial court.

Two fugitives from vastly different worlds went from wary distrust to relying on each other amid the chaos of war. A flash flood swept them into the isolated Peach Blossom Valley, where an ancient farming civilization had survived. Its residents knew nothing of the wars beyond their borders and lived peacefully, providing for themselves.

Ning Wanqing’s medical skills and Ji Linyuan’s military expertise stirred up waves in this closed society. As the two gradually settled into this ideal world, they discovered that Peach Blossom Valley was threatened by a mysterious “blight disease,” while the fires of war outside were closing in on this untouched haven.

With their identities at risk of exposure, the valley elders growing suspicious, and feelings beginning to bloom between them, they had to choose between protecting this ideal home and returning to the world they had left behind. When Ji Linyuan discovered Peach Blossom Valley had a hidden connection to his family, a story of civilization’s survival and personal redemption began to unfold...
