You Passed Beneath My Eaves

Mutual secret crushes are so captivating. Jiang Yu, a gentle and kind young man, and Ji Yanran, a devoted and resilient top student, fell for each other in high school and formed a deep emotional bond. After a family upheaval caused Ji Yanran’s friend Tang Xin to fail the college entrance exams, Tang resorted to an extreme tactic, threatening to take her own life and using emotional blackmail to force Jiang Yu to become her boyfriend. Out of a sense of responsibility and respect for life, Jiang Yu gave in, leaving his relationship with Ji Yanran trapped in years of repression and pain. In college, Ji Yanran, struggling with dormitory conflicts, lingered beneath Jiang Yu’s building. Tang Xin saw her and made a scene, threatening to jump. After everyone tried to talk her down and mocked her, Tang finally backed off. At last, Jiang Yu and Ji Yanran could experience the joys of love openly. When they graduated, Jiang Yu’s family arranged for him to study abroad, while Yanran refused the Jiang family’s financial support and chose to stay in the country and start working. The two broke up. Years later, when Ji Yanran was preparing to go on a blind date, Jiang Yu heard about it and returned home to pursue her again. To his delight, he discovered that they had both stayed right where they were, waiting for each other.
