I Became a Web Editor Big Shot

[After being rejected a hundred times, she grits her teeth in her rented room late at night. When she opens her eyes again, she has become the online editor who rejected her manuscripts back then?]

Lin Mo clutches her burning phone. The 101st rejection email glares at her from the screen, making her eyes sting: “The story is clichéd and lacks a hook. We recommend trying a different genre.” She stares at Blood-Red Metamorphosis, the novel she has spent three years writing, its cursor blinking in the darkness at the final chapter.

When she opens her eyes again, she is sitting in a cubicle at Yunqi Chinese Literature, with the name “Su Wan” clearly displayed on her desk. In her previous life, Su Wan was the rookie editor who always nitpicked her rejection letters!

Even more ironically, a familiar perfume drifts from the break room as editor-in-chief Zhou Ya walks by carrying a stack of contracts. The cover reads Blood-Red Metamorphosis, and the author’s name is Zhou Ya!

“Editor Lin, what are you spacing out for?” An intern from the neighboring team leans over. “Editor-in-chief Zhou just said one of the stories assigned to you has ‘problematic values’ and ordered you to take it down immediately.” Lin Mo glances at the dashboard. It belongs to a new writer whose story is about a village schoolteacher. The latest chapter ends with, “The students crossed the mountains through the night to bring her medicine for her fever.”

Ten years of frustration over rejected manuscripts surge into a blade, and her memories from her reborn life become her sharpest weapon.

She strides into the editor-in-chief’s office in thin heels and slaps the “copyright signed over without authorization” clause Zhou Ya hid in the contract onto the desk. “Editor-in-chief Zhou, did you learn how to steal authors’ copyrights from me in my previous life?”
