She Panicked After I Was Diagnosed With a Terminal Illness

My wife married me because of pressure from her family.

But she loved my younger brother.

I didn't want to tear them apart, so I called off the wedding and ran away on the eve of the ceremony.

I never expected my brother to get stabbed by thugs while searching for me at night and end up in the ICU.

By the time I was dragged back to marry her, Lin Xuezhi already hated me.

After the wedding, she never said a single word to me.

The one time we got drunk and slept together, she called out my brother's name.

Guilty over what had happened to my brother, I pretended not to notice my wife's forbidden love and drowned myself in endless work.

The day I worked myself into stomach cancer, I tore up a mountain of paperwork and set off three strings of firecrackers outside the company.

I'd already prepared the rope when I remembered no one would take care of my body, so I messaged her:

[Ms. Lin, I'm going to die for a bit. Could you put my brother's birthday celebrations on hold first?]

For once, she replied instantly:

[Are you crazy?]
