The Red Rose in the Gaps of Memory

Recommendation

### Intro 1:

At three in the morning on the fifteenth of every month, Xie Yan is always jolted awake by a burning pain in his lungs.

In his fragmented memories, a woman in a burgundy qipao stands at a mixing console. As her fingertips brush the knobs, the ends of her hair sweep across the back of his hand. “You owe me a moment of clarity.”

Following his memories, he finds the “Listen to the Wind” recording studio, only to see a woman with a vermilion beauty mark at the corner of her eye, her gaze lowered as she tunes an instrument.

She looks up, her eyes wavering slightly. “We’ve never met.”

But he clearly remembers the muffled sound of a blade piercing his lung as he shielded her from a knife on a rainy night. Yet the security footage shows that, on that same night, he threw himself in front of a blade to save another woman. Two sets of memories clash in his mind. Whenever he starts to make sense of them, white noise stabs his eardrums like steel needles, wiping away every crucial detail.

Only when Lin Ying hands him warm water with red-rimmed eyes does he glimpse the vermilion mark at the corner of her eye. Only when he finds a bloodstained ID badge in an old recording studio does he see the name Su Zhuo, though the photo is of Lin Ying.

It turns out that Su Zhuo, who supposedly died in a car accident three years ago, had long since been drugged into becoming a puppet on strings. And hidden among the memories erased every month is the image of him pushing Lin Ying off a rooftop with his own hands.

He clutches the ID badge and hears the crisp sound of an instrument being tuned outside the door.

“Brother A Yan?”

This time, no matter what, he won’t forget again:

Who was the moment of clarity he owed really meant for?
