Night at Jiangcheng Funeral Home: Seven Corpses with Open Eyes

In 2025, programmer Cui Hao drops dead from overwork. When he opens his eyes again, he is a down-and-out scholar in the fictional ancient dynasty of Dayin. Bound to the “Chronicles of the Yellow Springs System,” which resembles a yellowed old book, he finds every page filled with eerie missions: seven corpses in Jiangcheng's public mortuary open their eyes in the dead of night, with sinister markings on their ankles pointing to the mysterious organization known as the Yin Bureau; the leading courtesans at Jinling's Xiu Chun House die one after another, their souls sealed inside puppets as sacrifices; and Luoyang's Bureau of Fate, which claims to exorcise demons, secretly trades with the Yin Bureau in “soul swaps”…

The System grants him occult abilities such as the Yellow Springs Eye and the Soul-Catching Bell. But when he encounters the memories of the dead, it also tears open the wounds of his past life: he was once the Yin Bureau's chief disciple, cast into the Yellow Springs by a silver-bell-wearing woman. That woman is Su Wanyue, the White Impermanence now hunting him down. More horrifying still, a modern employee ID card and hospital surveillance screenshots appear in a secret room in the ancient world. The attachment to the anonymous email he received before his sudden death is unmistakably a map of the Dayin Dynasty!
