Over the Hurdles, Chasing Dreams on the Wind

At Qinghe Middle School in a small Jiangnan town, a boy named Chen Feng chances upon track and field. During a PE lesson, he is captivated by the exhilarating feeling of soaring over a hurdle, and from then on, he sets foot on a path filled with sweat and glory. Though he is not especially athletic and is even mocked by his classmates as “getting ahead of himself,” Chen Feng trains day after day on a humble track, driven by the stubbornness in his bones and his obsession with speed. He sprints through the rain and fine-tunes his form under the moonlight, honing his talent in the clumsiest yet most determined way.

After graduating from middle school, Chen Feng makes it into the provincial sports school as a dark horse. There, he meets a strict but dedicated coach and teammates who fight alongside him, as well as rivals blessed with extraordinary talent. The training is far more intense than he imagined, and injuries and failures follow him everywhere. But he never forgets the thrill of his first hurdle. Through countless falls and comebacks, he gradually masters the rhythm and technique of hurdling. From provincial team trials to the national championships, Chen Feng’s name begins to make a mark on the track, and his sights are already set on the top of the world.

After joining the national team, Chen Feng faces the world’s very best track and field athletes. Confronted with training plateaus, public pressure, and challenges from his rivals, he keeps gritting his teeth and moving forward as a “chaser of the wind.” From a disappointing stumble at the World Athletics Championships to the breathtaking moment he bounds over the hurdles like a cheetah at the Olympics, Chen Feng spends ten years making the impossible possible. He writes his own legend over the hurdles and shows the world the rise and glory of track and field in the East.
