The Unknown Secret

My mother was brought to this remote mountain village by human traffickers. When I was eleven, I stumbled upon signs of her secretly preparing to escape. When her father found out, he angrily gathered a group of villagers and dragged her back home. She was beaten all over and her body was covered with bruises and cuts. That night, in order to reward my "meritorious service", my father gave me a chicken drumstick. Soon after, my mother died, and I gradually became an informant in the village. Villagers often say that little girls will not arouse the defensiveness of those women, and it is easier to lure out their restless hearts.
