While My Mother Was Being Murdered, My Brother Was Making His Sworn Sister Laugh

In my previous life, my brother took all the nearby troops to the outskirts to set off fireworks for his sworn sister’s birthday.

Bandits who hated my brother to the bone stormed our home, intent on killing my entire family.

My mother and I were trapped inside. She was struck by an arrow and collapsed, barely alive.

A messenger from the estate rode without pause, begging my brother to come home and save us.

In the end, he returned, though clearly impatient.

After the bandits were wiped out, something happened to his sworn sister.

She left behind only a suicide note, claiming that I had schemed to lure my brother away so I could trick the bandits into going to the house on the outskirts and assaulting her.

She would rather die than suffer such humiliation. She threw herself into the river, and no trace of her was ever found.

My brother listened to her story with a blank expression, then comforted me, telling me not to take it to heart.

He was rewarded and promoted by the Ministry of War for suppressing the bandits.

But the very day he returned home, he poisoned me to death.

His face twisted with rage as he finally spoke his true feelings:

“Wretch! You’re as vicious as a snake. How could you deserve to live and be my sister? The good life you enjoy now belongs to my poor Yaoyao!”

“I’ve written your suicide note for you. After you die, everyone will know how wickedly you harmed her!”

I died consumed by hatred.

When I opened my eyes again, the sound of bandits’ swords and blades came from outside the estate.
