After She Left, the Sun Shone Brightly

At our wedding, my wife's assistant displayed the wrong photo of the newlyweds.

The big screen was supposed to show my wedding portrait, but instead it showed my wife and him in traditional wedding robes, fingers interlaced as they gazed into each other's eyes, looking blissfully happy.

The whole room erupted in an uproar.

The assistant sobbed and sniffled, asking if we could postpone the wedding.

My wife stayed calm and quietly offered me a solution.

"Everyone's already here. Postponing would be so embarrassing, and it's bad luck, too. Besides, no one knows what the groom looks like anyway. Why not let him marry you in your place?"

My friends were all dumbfounded, thinking I would fly into a jealous rage over what my wife had said.

Instead, I nodded and said it was a great idea.

Seeing how calm I was, my wife looked very pleased. She said we'd already gotten our marriage license, and promised she would make time to hold another wedding for me.

But she seemed to have forgotten.

She had just signed the divorce papers.
