Typhoon Warning: I'm Done with Him

A typhoon warning came in, and Gu Yan called to ask me to pick him up from the office. I was already halfway there when I got his message: “You don’t need to pick me up. I’m staying at Yun Yun’s for a few days.” I didn’t make a fuss. I simply replied, “Okay.” Late that night, Gu Yan’s junior colleague posted a moment visible only to me. In the photo, Gu Yan had his arm around her as they curled up on the sofa watching TV. Outside the window, a storm raged. The caption read: “Awful weather, but I have the man I love most by my side. So happy.” I calmly liked the post, but Gu Yan immediately called to demand what I meant by liking it. I answered coolly, “It means we’re breaking up.”
