Siheyuan: From Changbai Mountain to Face-Slapping the Scoundrels

Xue Chengyuan wakes up to find that he has transmigrated into the world of a 1970s courtyard compound, and is lucky enough to have a farm space. As soon as he arrives, he has to deal with Liu Haizhong trying to force him to sell the land deed for 60 yuan, Banggeng mouthing off and picking a fight, and Jia Zhangshi coveting his house. But he’s no pushover, and quickly teaches them a lesson with a few clever moves. Before long, however, he is sent to the countryside, to a remote post deep in the primeval forests of Changbai Mountain, where he becomes a forest ranger. There, he encounters all kinds of rare and ferocious wild animals: a wild Manchurian tiger prowls through the snow, black bears come down to forage during the autumn harvest, and wild boars run rampant. A mysterious weasel even arrives with a pheasant in its mouth to “pay its respects.” Roe deer, otters, and sika deer keep him company, while the mountains abound with precious treasures such as lion’s mane mushrooms, wild ginseng, and red lingzhi mushrooms. Xue Chengyuan is determined to leave his mark on this extraordinary land and use his farm space to keep growing stronger. He knows that one day he will return to the courtyard compound. When he does, he will use the strength and wealth he has built up in Changbai Mountain to give a face-slapping lesson to the “beasts” who once bullied him, making them pay for what they did. He will stir up a sensation in the compound and write his own legendary comeback story.
