A Journey Through the Tang Dynasty

The Journey to the Tang Dynasty tells the fantastical story of Lin Yu, a modern historian who accidentally transmigrates to Chang’an during the Tang Dynasty while studying an ancient, mysterious book. When Lin Yu first arrives in Chang’an, he is awestruck by its prosperity and ancient charm, but also feels lost, knowing that some unknown mission must lie behind his journey through time.

In Chang’an, he meets many people, including Li Baian, the owner of a tavern. He also enters the palace, befriends Princess Li Wan’er, and gets caught up in struggles for power at court. After Lin Yu is framed and imprisoned, he escapes through his own wits and exposes a prince’s plot to rebel, earning himself a position as a strategist at court. Along the way, he uses modern knowledge to help the Tang Dynasty weather a drought and fosters cultural exchange between the modern era and the Tang Dynasty.

As for romance, he and Li Wan’er gradually fall for each other, but he is conflicted because he comes from another time. In the end, summoned by a mysterious jade pendant, Lin Yu reluctantly decides to return to the modern world. Once home, he writes a book about his extraordinary adventure, introducing more people to the prosperous Tang Dynasty and his remarkable journey. In his heart, he will always cherish and long for the Tang Dynasty and Li Wan’er.
