The Nights Are Long and Dreams Too Plentiful, So I Made My Mother-in-Law My Big Brother

(Superhuman strength + space + transmigration + no romance + fleeing famine and seeking refuge) The last daughter of the Wen family got married again. To the same family as before. They say the man had killed nine wives. Seven of them were Wen Xiu's older sisters. The longest any of her six sisters had lived in that household was three and a half years. They bore child after child, but every child had a different mother. The excuse was that a new wife might mistreat the children, so one younger sister after another became the family's new bride. The day Wen Xiaoli transmigrated into Wen Xiu, another three and a half years had passed. She had just crawled out from under the tattered mat covering her grave. It took her a full day and night to accept that she'd gone from 1.60 meters tall to 180 centimeters, and become a broad, burly, plain-looking widow. The difference was enormous! That's right: a golden single woman had suddenly become a widow surrounded by children and grandchildren. Of course, none of them were hers. Could she die one more time? Sure, but Wen Xiu couldn't bring herself to do it. She'd acquired a golden finger in the form of a pocket dimension, and had also discovered that she possessed superhuman strength. Wouldn't that let her rule the village? But just a few days later, the village's broken gong, silent for fifty years, rang out. Their once-prosperous country was about to fall, and their homeland was on the brink of ruin. Enemy soldiers were laying waste to the land, killing and looting. What could they do? Easy! Run! And so the whole village set out in a great, jostling crowd to flee the famine and seek refuge. Along the way, they faced drought, wild beasts, battles with other refugees, and pursuit by foreign troops. They crossed mountains and rivers, passed deserted villages strewn with corpses, fought over water, and stole grain to trade for land. By the time they finally found a peaceful place untouched by war and settled down, only a handful of the awful, useless children and daughters-in-law who'd followed them remained. Somewhere along the way, Wen Xiu went from being their mother-in-law to the big brother of several daughters-in-law. Oh, well. She'd just lead them all to a better life.
