In the Scorching Heat of the Apocalypse, I Abandoned My Ungrateful Son and His Father

On the third day of the terrifying heat wave, my husband and son took pity on the mother and daughter next door and invited them over for dinner.

After they came over several times in a row, I started worrying that our food was running low. We simply couldn't afford to feed two extra mouths.

So when they showed up again, I told them to leave.

My husband was furious. “How much can the two of them eat? You're so stingy. They're our neighbors. What's wrong with lending them a hand?”

Our son also thought I had no compassion. “Mom's mean! Mom's selfish!”

The two of them took their dinner straight over to the neighbors' place.

Later, when we ran out of food, my husband forced me to go out and buy groceries.

I died of dehydration in the heat.

When I woke up again, my phone was sending out a heat wave warning.

I called my husband.

“I have to go on a business trip. I won't be back for a month.”
