"Dream of Red Mansions" (Annotated Edition), Two Volumes

In order to fully meet the demand for "whole book reading" of "Dream of Red Mansions" in the first semester of high school in the new unified Chinese language textbook, Zhonghua Book Company has specially launched "Dream of Red Mansions" (annotated version). In 1998, we published an annotated version of "Dream of Red Mansions", which was hosted by the famous red scholar Mr. Qi Gong and annotated by famous professors Zhang Jun, Nie Shiqiao, Zhou Jibin, Gong Shuduo and Wu Jinghuan of Beijing Normal University. "A Dream of Red Mansions" (annotated version) is revised based on the annotated version, retaining Mr. Qi Gong's preface. They selected the "Cheng Jia version" of the 120 complete chapters of the story as the original version. They were careful and accurate, and did not change the original text at will, making this version a valuable material for studying "Dream of Red Mansions". In order to allow readers to fully read the text, this book adopts the method of back-notes, with about 3,600 annotations, which are detailed and rich to avoid tedious research. At the same time, we invited Professor Miao Huaiming, deputy dean of the School of Liberal Arts of Nanjing University and a well-known expert on red studies, to write a detailed introduction to "Dream of Red Mansions", which fully matches the six "reading instructions" in the "Whole Book Reading" course design, starting from first to last. In addition, this book also includes a table of the main characters and deeds of "Dream of Red Mansions" to outline the characters' personalities and grasp the main line of the plot; an index of poems, lyrics, and verses of "Dream of Red Mansions", all poems can be found at a glance; a list of major research works on "Dream of Red Mansions", listing classic works of "Redology" to help you think deeply about the theme; a separate "Character Relationship Table" is attached on a separate page, so that complex character relationships can be understood in one table.
