A Dream of Red Mansions (Vernacular Version)

Dream of Red Mansions is a book that I never tire of reading. The more I read it, the more interesting it becomes. Especially the appreciation and understanding of ancient poems benefit me a lot. It's a good book.

The language is concise, easy to understand, and the content is detailed, making people unable to put it down once they read it. Although there are many characters, each one can be introduced very carefully, the characters are vividly portrayed, and the language is precise and detailed. I was deeply impressed and benefited a lot from reading it.

A classic among classics, a must-read for Hong Kong scholars. An ancient Chinese chapter novel, one of the four classic Chinese classics, is generally believed to be written by the Qing Dynasty writer Cao Xueqin. Although there are many cuts, you can still understand the general plot of the story. Watching it for the first time, it was pretty good. If, like me, you feel that the paper classical Chinese version is too thick and cannot be understood, you can take a look at this abridged vernacular version. I was really unhappy with the outcome of Baoyu and Daiyu, because it described a lot of etiquette systems, such as women not being able to make their own decisions about marriage, etc. I think it was a satire of the author who overly restricted people's thoughts by the rulers of the dynasty at that time. For example, there were references to banned books and so on. The entire book "Dream of Red Mansions" narrates the decline of the four major families of Jia Shi, Wang Xue and Xue at one time. The deeper meaning is that the author writes about the corruption, enjoyment and final decline of the Qing Dynasty... The whole book feels like a tragedy to me, but it is often more legendary and makes people feel that it is infinitely meaningful (the above is only my personal opinion, don't criticize if you don't like it) ——2024.02.19

I'm relieved that it's different from the 1987 version of the TV series Dream of Red Mansions, because that one is a bit tragic.

We don't know whether the author accidentally obtained the master in a dream or whether he has worked hard for many years to write this book. However, the story has given many infatuated and depressed people in later generations a different pursuit of time and spirit.

Reading the original work is too labor-intensive. The vernacular text is simple and straightforward, but the profound meaning of the original work is missing.

Thanks to the author for his hard work. This vernacular version is very easy to understand, but some things seem to have been omitted to make it less coherent. The overall feeling is still very good. I hope everyone will spend more time reading these masterpieces (ฅ>ω<*ฅ)
