Wolong Sheng's New Magic Crane Needle

The New Immortal Crane Divine Needle is a painstakingly revised work he completed thirty years later, bringing together the finest of his writing. It is especially meticulous in its portrayal of Li Qingluan's innocence and kindness; Bai Yunfei's grace and nobility; Su Feifeng's devotion and quiet endurance; Lan Xiaodie's guileless nature and the budding, blossoming feelings between the characters; Long Yubing, who buries her love deep in her heart, then loses her way and makes a terrible mistake when sparks fly after she meets Cao Xiong; Cao Xiong's treachery and lechery; and the Jade Flute Fairy's noble devotion to love. Peng Xiuwei's heart-rending tragedy is also rendered with such pathos and plausibility that every part tugs at the heartstrings. Here, I have selected a few passages to recommend, and hope readers will pay special attention to these chapters and savor the rich flavor of emotion in Wolong Sheng's world.
