Strange Tales of Panorama Island is the fifth volume in the Edogawa Rampo Collection. It includes Rampo's second full-length novel, Strange Tales of Panorama Island, and his first novella, The Lakeside Pavilion Incident. Since graduating from university, Hitoshi Hiroshi has been living in a run-down apartment. He spends his days doing nothing but daydreaming, rather than looking for a job, and loves reading utopian novels about earthly paradises. His only dream is to become a "god" and remake nature.
One day, at last, the chance to make that dream a reality arrives. See how he transforms a lonely island less than two miles across into a paradise. Halfway through the story, the author introduces a murder case, letting readers savor the pleasures of a classic detective novel while visiting Rampo's utopia. Of all Rampo's works, this is the masterpiece that best embodies his dreams.
This book is so interesting! I especially like Kosuke Hijimi in the book. He has such a rich imagination that he can turn an isolated island into a peach blossom village. Moreover, there is a murder incident in the middle of the story, which makes reading both tense and exciting. Mr. Ranpo's works are always full of whimsical ideas, which is an eye-opener for me. I think this book is very suitable for friends who like mystery and fantasy.
Edogawa Ranpo, my superman! ! !
I love this book so much! The imagination is really rich! And Ranpo, you really can't forget your Edgar Allan Poe.
