The Empire's Melancholy: Politics and Human Nature in Traditional Chinese Society

This book talks about the conflict between politics and human nature in traditional Chinese society. The content comes from the lectures of "Hundred Schools of Lectures" and has been updated on this basis. Through teacher Yi Zhongtian's combing, I discovered the mysteries of history. When we look back on the past and look at each event from a historical perspective, we will find the connection between different events. In the conflicts, I have a better understanding of a big country like China, its greatness and problems. However, this book is a bit like a collection put together and not systematic enough.

Through this book, we can gain an in-depth understanding of the political system, social structure and human characteristics of traditional Chinese society, and further understand the complexity of Chinese history and culture. This book also provides in-depth reflections and discussions on traditional Chinese social politics and human nature, providing readers with a comprehensive perspective to understand the evolution of Chinese history and culture. Whether readers, students or researchers who are interested in Chinese history, they can deepen their understanding of traditional Chinese society by reading this book.

Its basic content is Yi Zhongtian's series of lectures on "Characters of the Han Dynasty" on CCTV's "Hundred Schools Forum". This book interprets the conflict and infiltration between politics and human nature in traditional Chinese society, the origin and whereabouts of the imperial system, the ups and downs of the reformists, and the secrets of gains and losses... It is full of interesting and thought-provoking details. These vivid stories and lives will prompt us to reflect on history, society, life, and ourselves, so there is wisdom in the fun. The process of Chinese and Western history is a process of "mutual victory". Sometimes we are better than others, and sometimes others are better than us. The trouble is just that people are better than us in modern times. Our scenery is beautiful, but it has become a thing of the past. This makes people sad. Melancholy means feeling lost, bewildered, and confused, that is, "sad as if lost", because we should not be like this.

Yi Zhongtian's "Lecture Forum" is very famous, and I believe many people have read it. This book contains a lot of wisdom about life. "Now we have roughly understood the ins and outs of atypical corruption: corruption occurs because power can be redeemed; atypical corruption prevails because the redemption of power has become a habit; the redemption of power has become a habit because power relationships are everywhere in social life; power relationships are everywhere in social life because we have There are two thousand years of authoritarian tradition, two thousand years of power society history, and two thousand years of cultural psychology and behavioral habits, that is, national character, cultivated by this system and this society. Although it is no longer the era of empire, no new system can cut off its cultural connection with the old system and will always accept some such "cultural heritage."

I especially like the analysis of historical figures in the book, and the character Chao Cuo impressed me deeply. He was miserable. He was deceived and sent to the execution ground without even a chance to plead his case. However, it also makes me hate those unscrupulous people even more. In short, this book is worth reading and can make people think more deeply about history.

I don't agree with many of the views in this book, but you can listen to it. Only by gathering flowers like a bee can you brew sweetness.

At first glance, I didn't realize that this book was expensive, but then I saw that it was already charged.
