The story unfolds at Tongfu Inn, which was originally called Shangru Inn before Tong Xiangyu renamed it. Tong Xiangyu is the daughter of the Longmen Escort Agency, and she married Mo Xiaobao, head of the Hengshan Sect. Bai Zhantang is a famous thief known as the Saint of Thieves. Guo Furong is a young lady who loves standing up for the wronged, but always ends up causing trouble. Lü Xiucai is a failed scholar who never passed the imperial examinations and was forced to sell his ancestral home. Li Xiulian used to be a constable, but later became the chef at Tongfu Inn. Mo Xiaobei is Mo Xiaobao’s younger sister and later becomes head of the Hengshan Sect.
