It’s graduation season once again. In Shanghai’s Lujiazui Financial City, Tao Wuji, Cheng Jiayuan, Hu Yueyue, and a group of other new graduates land jobs at Shenjiang Bank. Tao Wuji, a young man from another province, works his way up from the bottom. His abilities and people skills help him stand out among the new hires. Zhao Hui, a vice president at the bank, sees his younger self in Tao Wuji and carefully mentors him. But Tao Wuji’s immediate superior and future father-in-law, Miao Che, thinks he is too slick and too good at playing all sides. Twenty years earlier, Zhao Hui, Miao Che, and their peers were young and ambitious, determined to make their mark in finance. Twenty years later, they have reached middle age and achieved success, but each faces their own challenges. After weathering the ups and downs of the workplace, Tao Wuji learns from Zhao Hui and Miao Che that he must not lose himself amid temptation and confusion. He makes a firm choice between personal feelings and the law, and grows into a guardian of order in a new generation of finance.
