The Cargo Hunter

A Curio Hunter is a profession that combines an antiques dealer’s keen eye, an adventurer’s experience, and a collector’s obsession. Most Curio Hunters spend their whole lives chasing one thing: “rare curios.” The term covers almost anything. Even a person or an animal can count as a rare curio. But there is another kind of Curio Hunter, one who seeks not rare curios, but “strange happenings.” In the last century, the Curio Hunter Nian Chengkai, who explored strange happenings, left behind a series of diaries recording all manner of bizarre events from the first half of his life, including the ghostly dragon hidden in a tomb’s endgame and Boqi swallowing dreams and devouring pestilence. Nian Chengkai titled his diaries Curios and Wonders. Through a twist of fate, decades later they came into the hands of the modern Curio Hunter Nian Shou. But Nian Shou only obtained the first half of the diaries, so he knew of the strange happenings but not their answers. He became embroiled in one uncanny mystery after another. This is the seventh book in the Other Cultures series, and a companion novel to Curios and Wonders.
