The Cargo Hunter

A treasure hunter is a profession that combines an antiques dealer's discerning eye, an adventurer's experience, and a collector's obsession. Most treasure hunters spend their entire lives pursuing just one thing: "rare treasures." The definition of a "rare treasure" is broad and unrestricted. Even a person or an animal can count as one. But there is another kind of treasure hunter who seeks not "rare treasures," but only "strange occurrences."

In 1941, Nian Chengkai, a treasure hunter exploring strange occurrences in Yunnan Province in the southwest, left behind a series of diaries. They recorded all manner of bizarre incidents he had encountered in the first half of his life, including the endgame of the Lingyi tomb, the ghost hiding in the dragon, and Boqi devouring dreams and spreading plague. Nian Chengkai titled his diaries Strange Treasures. By a twist of fate, decades later, they came into the hands of modern treasure hunter Nian Shou. But Nian Shou only obtained the first half of the diaries. He learned of the strange occurrences, but not their mysteries' answers, and found himself caught up in one bizarre incident after another.

This book is the seventh in the Other Cultures series, and also a companion to Strange Treasures
