Jiangshi: After Failing the Exams, I Take Up Corpse Driving, and My Classmates’ Video Terrifies Everyone

The KTV party is in full swing when someone brings up Lin Hao, who disappeared after failing his exams. Everyone mocks his excuse that he went to western Hunan to drive corpses. The class monitor stubbornly starts a video call, but all they see on the other end is a dark forest and a wavering flashlight.

The instant the camera turns around, nine stiff, pitch-black figures stand in a barren clearing, each with a bright yellow talisman pasted to its forehead. Lin Hao forms a hand seal through the screen, and the dried corpses line up before everyone's horrified eyes. As they sway, each one places its arms on the shoulders of the person in front, moving in perfect unison. The room falls silent in an instant. Dozens of eyes stare fixedly at the silhouettes dancing in the darkness as their understanding of reality is crushed bit by bit.

Lin Hao puts away his phone and pays no more attention to the dead silence on the other end. Nine martyrs who died far from home are waiting for him to make the journey back with them under cover of night, and the countdown has less than a year left. He must find an inn where they can rest before dawn and continue down this road that no one believes in. As for the classmates who were scared speechless on the other side of the screen, when they meet again at graduation, there will probably be even more things they can't believe.
