Siheyuan: Playing Dumb to Stay Safe, I Build a Hidden Courtyard

After transmigrating into this courtyard, Li Youwei finally figured things out. The times were chaotic, and people were even more so. Pretending to be crazy and foolish was far more satisfying than trying to reason with anyone. If others acted crazy by one measure, he would go ten times further. With a whole courtyard full of vicious people around him, being a fool was the best protection.

With heaps of lumber piled up in an abandoned warehouse, he quietly carved out a secret space of 450 square meters and began building a private courtyard of his own. By day, he wandered around the factory, playing dumb. By night, he sawed and chiseled by moonlight, shaping every brick and tile to his own taste.

But how could the people in this courtyard ever leave him in peace? A widow came to his door at night to coax money out of him, while the neighbors schemed against him at every turn. He kept pretending to be a fool as he silently stashed the supplies and skills awarded by the System in his hidden space. Want to take advantage of a fool? Let's see who gives in first.

The wooden house deep in the warehouse grew taller and taller, while the people in the courtyard who thought themselves so clever still hadn't realized that the fool they'd always trampled underfoot had quietly laid out another path for himself.
