Siheyuan: Farming in My Pocket Dimension, My Cooking Makes Silly Zhu Drool

In a Beijing hutong in 1963, Nan Yi has no ration coupons in his pocket, but he does have a portable space where he can grow skill-granting fruits. The aroma of stir-fried shredded potatoes fills the courtyard, drawing calculating eyes from across the way.

Qin Huairu brings Banggeng to block his doorway, testing him with every word while keeping her eyes fixed on his lunchbox. Xu Damao shows up with grain coupons and industrial coupons, hoping to use Nan Yi's cooking skills to treat Lou Xiao'e's family to a meal. Nan Yi gives the meat to the three Mao brothers, then turns around and won't even let Banggeng squeeze through the crack in his door. The deaf old lady takes a bite of braised pork, narrows her eyes, and says it tastes even better than Silly Zhu's cooking. The rules in this courtyard are due for a change.

The pond water in his space can irrigate vegetables and raise chickens. The rooster chases the hens all over the place, and soon eggs are scattered across half the grassy field. Nan Yi plans to catch some fingerlings outside the city and release them into the stream. He's also working out how to rescue Ding Qiunan from Cui Dake's trap. But his most pressing problem is that his small savings can't withstand many trips to the black market. If he wants to live comfortably in this era, cooking skills and a System probably won't be enough.
