Siheyuan: Back from the Countryside, I Rage at the Jia Family for Taking Over a House

When Yang Tian returned to the city and opened his door, he found an unfamiliar girl lying on his bed. The Jia family had taken over all three rooms and changed every lock. Jia Zhangshi insisted the house belonged to her, while Uncle Yi kept telling him to be understanding. The entire courtyard gathered to watch and jeer, and not one person spoke up for him. The young man, whose parents were both dead, had barely returned before everyone started treating him like a pushover.

But Yang Tian had the land-use certificate in his hands. He neither argued nor made a scene, simply laying out the facts in front of everyone. Two years of occupying the house, plus rent and damages: they owed him a full thousand yuan, not a cent less. Uncle Yi tried to use his status as an elder to pressure him, but Yang Tian turned around and laid out the man's monthly salary of two hundred yuan for all to see. In an instant, the whole courtyard stopped staring at Yang Tian and started eyeing the fortune Yi Zhonghai had saved over the past ten years.

In those days, the last thing anyone wanted was to look rich. Yang Tian wasn't afraid. His real plans had never involved this courtyard. In a little over a year, the times would change, and opportunities to make money would be everywhere. But some people insisted on asking for trouble. They couldn't blame him for making them pay back every cent, with interest, all at once. He wasn't a bleeding heart or a pushover. He'd take what he was owed and never hold back when speaking his mind.
