Hogwarts: Earning Merit, Determined to Become the Dark Lord

Biologist Li Weide transmigrates to 1938, his body shrunk back to eleven years old, and is sent to Wool's Orphanage. A black-haired boy kicks the door open and demands a room change: Tom Riddle, the future Voldemort. Li Weide uses magic to pin him to the floor and beat him down, and Tom gives in on the spot. The Merit System activates: earn merit by doing good deeds and exchange it for rewards, while achieving the title of Dark Lord can make him a god.

So Li Weide drags Tom into "re-education through labor," forcing him to work around the orphanage. The System keeps flashing notifications: inflicting psychological damage on the future Dark Lord, merit 10, 50, 100. Mrs. Cole is moved to tears: "Tom has become such a good boy." Tom's eyes turn red, while Li Weide smiles and nods. "He's always been introverted."

Dumbledore arrives to deliver the Hogwarts letter. Tom first grows suspicious, thinking he's being sent to a mental hospital. After a fit of panic, he is overcome with joy: so his ability is magic after all. Li Weide watches his performance expressionlessly. He saves up enough merit to exchange for a top-grade memory potion that lets him remember anything at a glance. He practices spells, from Reparo to Petrificus Totalus, and casts Wandless Magic with ease. Who says you can't become the Dark Lord while doing good deeds?
