War of Resistance: Heroes from Two Dramas Battle to the Death at Changjin Lake!

Su Hua transmigrated to 1935. At the most desperate moment in the Songpan Grasslands, he rescued Li Yunlong, Ding Wei, and Kong Jie, led them out of the encirclement, and headed north to the Taihang Mountains to establish a base. Along the way, they stumbled into a refugee camp and encountered the scattered soldiers from My Chief and My Regiment: Long Wenzhang, Meng Fanniao, Mi Long, Hao Xichuan, Bu La, A Yi, and the others. While Li Yunlong was still figuring out how to marry Zheng Fang, Su Hua had already recruited every last one of these Sichuan Army stragglers.

Starting with the purge of Black Dragon Stronghold in Xinzhuang Village, the Independent Regiment established itself in the Taihang Mountains. When the full-scale war of resistance broke out in 1937, Su Hua took this force, forged from the spirit of Bright Sword and My Chief and My Regiment, back to the battlefield. Li Yunlong grew from a cook who took the blame into a battalion commander, while Long Wenzhang led the Sichuan Army battalion in a fierce fight. When the Japanese thought they were facing nothing more than an ordinary guerrilla force, Su Hua had already used his modern tactical ideas and industrial knowledge to forge the unit into the toughest force in North China.

More than a decade later, when the Independent Regiment's banner had flown from the Taihang Mountains all the way to Lake Changjin, Eagle Army commanders searched the entire history of the war and still couldn't find any record of where this unit came from.
