Journey to the West: The Fate-Defying System, the Spirit Monkey Changes the Heavenly Dao

Wang Yang transmigrates into the world of Journey to the West and becomes Patriarch Bodhi's eldest disciple. His cultivation is so pathetic that he spends a thousand years stuck at the peak of the Human Immortal realm, only for his master to dump a hot potato on him: training the newly initiated Sun Wukong.

The System for Defying Fate activates at the same time. As long as he changes the monkey's destiny, the rewards are endless. So he starts working his way around him, forcing the monkey to swear a Great Dao oath never to reveal who taught him, teaching him the Nine Revolutions Profound Art, and drilling the principle of playing it safe: if you can run, never fight. Sun Wukong masters the Shrinking Earth Technique in three days, elevates his Wind Escape into Chaos Wind Escape in five, and reaches the threshold of the Golden Immortal realm in seven. Rewards from the System pour back into Wang Yang like a flood. The Nine Revolutions Profound Art runs automatically, and his inner cultivation speed is permanently doubled.

The monkey is completely brainwashed: the outside world is too dangerous, the Heavenly Palace is full of traps, and fighting means certain death. The East Sea Dragon King waits so long for the Golden Cudgel that he starts questioning his sanity. Sun Wukong flatly refuses Taibai Jinxing's invitation to take an official post in Heaven. When Tathagata calculates that the protagonist of the Journey to the West has started slacking off, he is left completely bewildered. While Patriarch Bodhi is still figuring out what lessons to arrange for the monkey, Wang Yang is already lying flat, watching his System panel and raking in rewards.
