Pokemon: A Shiny Gastly Tames Pokemon Through Buddhist Teachings

Bian Xiang wants to become a Pokémon Trainer, but he gets stuck with a frustratingly laid-back System: to catch Pokemon, he has to win them over with Buddhist teachings. No throwing Poke Balls at them; he has to use love! He spends more than half a year poring over scriptures, and all the wild Pokemon nearby get so used to being fed by him that they run away as soon as he mentions catching them. Then a Shiny Gastly shows up on its own. It has been eavesdropping on his sutra recitations every day and comes with the innate talent Immovable Wisdom King. After being baptized by the Great Compassion Mantra, it glows with holy light and slaps away Silver's Gastly's Lick, scaring the red-haired boy into fleeing on the spot!

Even more absurdly, Gastly can level up after they finish reading a Buddhist text together. Bian Xiang racks up good deeds to earn points: carrying a sack of rice for an old lady, helping a blind person cross the street, and reporting illegal gambling on the roadside. His Buddhist Merit value keeps climbing. The System shop is stocked with the Vajra Formation, Future Sight, and Immovable Wisdom King, all waiting for him to redeem them. The pagoda-climbing competition at Bellsprout Tower is about to begin, and the school's elite are raring to compete, while Bian Xiang is scheming about how to sneak into the tower and steal a rare Sanskrit manuscript amid the chaos.

Team Rocket has its eyes on his Shiny Gastly, Silver is searching everywhere for him to take revenge, and an ancient Buddhist scripture is buried beneath Bellsprout Tower.
