Ultraman: A Wingless, Defective Light, Fighting Space Beasts Alone

In his previous life, the light of Nexus was tainted by dark energy, and Lin Yuan, the last host, died of exhaustion with a body ravaged by radiation sickness. Reborn in a parallel world, he finds the Evoltruster wrapped in black markings that the previous hosts could never cleanse before their deaths. From the start, he confesses to the campus belle he has had a crush on for five years, gets rejected, blocks her, drops out, and writes novels to save up money for the apocalypse. When Space Beasts descend amid global rainstorms, he transforms into Nexus and charges into the ruins of Tokyo. He cannot heal his wounds or shift the battlefield into a Meta Field. All he has is a body corroded by dark energy and a heart that has already died once.

He cleaves a dark Space Beast in two and drives back a powerful enemy with a cross-shaped beam. As his warning light flashes wildly, he drops to one knee in the middle of the ruins, blood seeping from the torn wounds on his back. In a global livestream, he struggles to his feet and uses his last strength to pry the steel beams off a person trapped beneath them. Then he dissolves into light particles in the rain. The comments explode: "He's so badly hurt, and he's still saving people?" "Why does his light have black markings?" Lin Yuan lies on a deserted island reef, gripping the Evoltruster tightly. He cannot lose the next battle.
