Siheyuan: Mastering the Bagua Staff, Tearing Off My Wicked Wife's Mask

After transmigrating as Shen He, a resident of a Beijing courtyard in 1960, he was poisoned by his wife from the start. The original Shen He died with resentment, but he took over the body and spat out the poison at death's door. When he struggled to open his eyes, Yi Zhonghai was leading the neighbors in a show of insincere concern by his bedside. Jia Zhangshi leaned against the doorframe, cracking sunflower seeds as she watched, while Xu Damao grinned from behind the crowd. Not one of the courtyard's beasts offered him a drop of water. Still recovering from the poison, he leaned on a stick and dragged himself from door to door asking for grain. Yi Zhonghai, the First Master, pretended to cough to cut him off. Liu Haizhong's wife, the Second Master's, claimed their rice jar was nearly empty, while Yan Bugui, the Third Master, went on and on about his hardships. He made the rounds of the whole courtyard, and only He Yushui gave him two coarse-grain buns. Hungry, he gripped his long stick tightly, and a door suddenly swung open in the depths of his mind. The "Five-Lang Eight Trigrams Staff" his father had taught him on his deathbed began to break down and practice itself in his soul space, its moves imprinting themselves on his muscle memory. His fingertips trembled around the wooden stick he used as a crutch. In his mind, he replayed the bone-chilling look his poisonous wife had given him before leaving. "This staff technique is going to be used on you tonight."
