American Comics: Bound to Supergirl, I Drew Kryptonian Divine Power

After transmigrating into the DC universe, Li Ang binds himself to the Godfather System from the start. His adopted daughter is Kara Zor-El, the last Kryptonian and the one and only Supergirl. As long as their bond grows strong enough, he can copy her abilities. In Gotham's Diamond District, on Penguin's turf, he tends bar at the Iceberg Lounge while Kara tries to control her superpowers in a run-down apartment. When her super-vision first awakens, everyone looks like a skeleton. When she turns on her super-hearing, her head fills with the thoughts of her neighbors.

When their bond value passes fifty, a System prompt appears: Extraction successful: Superhuman Physiology. Li Ang climbs out of his hardwood bed and punches a hole through the bed frame. He runs three blocks without even getting out of breath. For the first time, Gotham's night wind doesn't send a chill down his spine.

Kara crouches on the edge of the rooftop, her blonde hair tousled by the wind. She turns and asks him, "Godfather, should I save people or not?" Li Ang leans against the doorframe without answering. The shadow of Batman, the Joker's laughter, and the blood still wet on Penguin's umbrella flash through his mind. But looking into Kara's emerald-green eyes, he says only one thing:

"Wait until you can tell justice from anger, then take action."
