Great Tang: I'm Li Chengqian, So What If I Rebel?

Li Chengqian opened his eyes to find himself transmigrated into the Tang dynasty Crown Prince, right in the middle of his trial for treason. Facing Li Shimin’s fury, he shot back: “That position was mine to begin with. I was just waiting. If I really wanted to rebel, I’d do it like the Xuanwu Gate Incident back then: bring you the heads of Li Tai and Li Zhi.” His words made Li Shimin’s face go pale.

At court, Li Chengqian pressed the issue at every turn, elevating the succession dispute into a question of the nation’s very foundations. He hinted that someone was setting him up to rebel, even bringing up the old cases of Crown Prince Liu Ju and Yang Yong. Li Shimin slumped on his throne, finally realizing he might have wronged his son. Li Chengqian forged sworn brotherhoods with Li Zhen, Cheng Chumo, and Li Dejian, the sons of three dukes, then set his sights on Fang Yizhi and Gao Wenmin, pulling the civil and military factions into the Eastern Palace’s camp. Rather than follow his former self and rebel, he would force Li Shimin to curb the favor shown to Li Tai.

While Li Zhi was still playing the obedient son, Li Chengqian had already used his silver tongue and strategic machinations to pin the treason charge on the Prince of Han and Hou Junji, preserving his position as Crown Prince. From a deposed prince pushed to the brink to a master strategist drawing civil and military forces to his side and sidelining Li Tai, he tore up the script for the Tang succession and rewrote it himself.
