Movies and TV: Rising Through the Underworld, Protecting Malena

Luo Su transmigrates to North Africa during World War II. He has just promised a comrade he will look after his newlywed wife when the man dies. Carrying the urn of his ashes, Luo Su returns to Sicily and becomes the security officer of a small town. Along the way, he gouges out the eyes of a thug who harasses him, then fires two more shots to make sure the man stays quiet.

Malena is so beautiful that the whole town envies her. Her husband has barely died when the dentist starts harassing her, anonymous letters fly everywhere, and even her own father shuts her out. Renato rides his bike to find Luo Su. "Sir, she really has it so hard."

Luo Su doesn't waste words. The dentist and his wife disappear, the thug loses his head, and Luo Su prepares a bed and simmers soup at his seaside villa. He tells Malena, "The town owes you. I'll make it pay."

And this is far from his only mission. In Titanic, he saves Rose before she can jump into the sea and throws Cal overboard to feed the fish. In The Shawshank Redemption, he steals the warden's dirty money from the safe and turns Andy's wrongful conviction inside out.

When the winds of Sicily blow once more, Malena walks through the streets and no one dares to gossip. The man standing behind her has a gun in his hand and won't tolerate a speck of trouble.
