Espionage: The Gene System, I Kill Traitors and Shake Shanghai

Synopsis:

Nanjing, 1936. Yang Xuewu opens his eyes to find that he has gone from a modern-day wage slave to a low-ranking member of the Military Intelligence Service's Operations Section. Just after leaving the hospital, he runs into a Japanese spy case. He risks his life to save his captain, Shi Yan, and nearly loses his own in the process.

But it is worth it: the Special Agent Gene Fusion System has arrived.

Enhanced hearing, eagle vision, and kangaroo storage: three genetic abilities propel him from ordinary agent into the realm of the superhuman. He can hear Japanese spies plotting through a wall a hundred meters away, see as well as a sniper scope, and stash seized gold bars in his storage space where no one can find them.

Others investigate cases by following clues; he relies on his ears. Just after Nakamura Shinji is arrested, Yang hears a man and woman in the next alley cursing in Japanese: "Baka! In China, speak Chinese!" Following this lead, he uncovers a "model teacher couple" at Xishan Road Primary School, extracts a confession that Qi Youhai, captain of the Military Intelligence Service's Interrogation Section, is a mole, then follows the trail to a police deputy captain, a Whampoa Military Academy instructor, a National Defense Ministry clerk, and an entire spy network.

Boss Dai slams the table in a fury, while the mole cries with snot running down his face. Yang Xuewu stands in his new office and wipes his glasses. This is only the beginning.
