Plum Blossoms Fall in the Heart of Spring

Yu Jinyan, a modern travel and culture blogger, accidentally transmigrates to the Dayao Dynasty because of an ancestral plum-blossom jade pendant. Stranded at Zexiu Inn, she crosses paths with Nangong Yichen, a bloodthirsty, ruthless tyrant who holds all the power in the land yet longs for love. He already has a gentle, dignified first wife, Lin Xiaowan, whom he married in his youth, but he is deeply drawn to Yu Jinyan's vivid, bright spirit, so unlike the women of the inner palace. Unable to let go of his tender, considerate wife of many years, he is also addicted to Yu Jinyan's fiery, passionate love and companionship, wavering selfishly between the two women and keeping them both in turmoil.

This entanglement lasts for twelve years. Yu Jinyan goes from joy to disappointment, suspicion, pain, and hatred, until at last she leaps from a cliff in despair, ending twelve years of absurd devotion with her death. Only after she dies does Nangong Yichen come to his senses. Brokenhearted, he sacrifices his imperial destiny and lifespan to forcibly reverse time, sending Yu Jinyan's soul back to the present-day parallel world twelve years later. He himself is scattered into nothingness, leaving only a wisp of lingering consciousness to watch over her.

Many years later, the two accidentally meet again on a modern street. The plum-blossom jade pendant rings once more. Their love endures, and fate still binds them, but in the end, time, life and death, and all they missed leave them facing each other without ever being together.
