Harry Potter: Dudley

Thunder mingled with the wind, roaring across heaven and earth like an angry god. Rain mixed with seawater, battering the roof of the poor little shack.

A sturdy blond, blue-eyed boy sat by the window. The relentless flashes of lightning illuminated the shore, revealing the powerful waves.

"Dudley?" a trembling voice called softly to the blond, blue-eyed boy.

Dudley let out a quiet sigh. Without moving, he softly answered, "Can't sleep because you're hungry?"

"If the storm let up a little, we could go fishing," Dudley said with a chuckle.

Harry Potter didn't find that funny at all. He'd known since a week before his birthday what Dudley was looking forward to, and even in these awful conditions, Dudley's anticipation had only grown stronger.

Harry was covered with a moldy blanket Dudley had given him, and beneath him was a shabby, bug-eaten sofa. Harry truly had no idea what there was to look forward to.
