I feel like it's a little different in the back
Those soldiers blocked the way and killed them all without leaving a trace. Maybe those people are just muddle along. Although people cannot be all black and white during war, there is no need to kill them all. Even if it is explained that they are all heinous bad guys, they will be killed just to highlight the ruthlessness of the protagonist. It feels a bit mindless and cool.
