Water can be separated and combined, but there is no spirit; fire is the anointing and fuel spirit, and there is no self. There is no one with essence, so when the rice is peeled off, the essence remains. With spirit, there is no self, so ghosts rely on things to see the spirit. Those who are full of essence forget right and wrong, forget gains and losses, and what is here is not that. Those who hold the spirit are dim and bright, strong and weak, and what is there is not this. There is no home in oneself, the form is self-contained, its movement is like water, its stillness is like a mirror, its response is like sound, its light is like death, its silence is like clearness, what is the same is harmonious, what is gained is lost, it is not like the ancestors, but tastes like following others.
