Tales of the Strange in Southern Shandong: The Yin-Yang Shop

At the foot of the Yimeng Mountains in southern Shandong, Shen Yan, a fortune-teller in his twenties, runs a small coffin shop. He knows feng shui and how to find dragon veins and auspicious burial sites. He can also draw talismans, chant incantations, and carry coffins to funerals. He always keeps an ancestral compass in his backpack.

A coffin knocked on in the rain, a copper bell without a clapper, an old temple in a deserted wood, and a damp note saying "Don't go to the back slope" slowly bring a buried case to light. Following the compass's guidance, Shen Yan helps villagers resolve problems with their homes, arrange burials, and assess feng shui, while gradually uncovering the secrets of the past and of people's hearts.

This is a folk-horror story with a subtle touch of the supernatural. There is no graphic violence, only rainy nights, a coffin shop, old houses, and the mystery and human nature found in rural ghost stories.
