Remaining Fruit

At twenty-eight, Qi Xia is the most carefree and brazen person in the city.

She loves drinking and making trouble, moves freely through affairs of the heart, and is skilled at flirtation, but never gives her heart away.

Everyone says she is a wanton woman without a shred of feeling. No one knows that love itself taught her how to be so heartless.

When she was young and earnest, she gave everything to Shen Yan.

In return, she got orders, indifference, the silent treatment, and several brazen affairs.

He won her heart and treated it like trash, never giving her the slightest regard.

On the night she finally wore her heart down and left in disgrace, she found an eight-year-old orphan, Wen Yu, on a snowy street.

Ten years of raising him, of being bound together day and night.

The frail child of those days grew into an obsessive young man, his eyes full of longing, with only her in his heart for this lifetime.

In the quiet of the night, when no one could know, Qi Xia let herself feel something for him.

But old wounds had festered into scars, while the age gap, the divide in their status, and the shadows of the past locked her in from every side.

She loved once and was hurt for a lifetime.

From then on, she buried every stirring of her heart, sealed away her love, and held herself back for the rest of her life, never crossing the line.

The man from her past came to his senses, but could never win back the woman she once was.

The new man loved her with obsessive devotion, yet would never see through the mask she wore.

One love gone wrong, ten years of cause and effect.

After all that passion, only an unsolvable aftermath remained.
