Seeking the Heavens

Mortals and immortals are worlds apart, and the laws of Heaven are merciless. The Seventh Princess of the Heavenly Court fell in love with a mortal and bore him a child, violating the heavenly laws. To preserve the Heavenly Court's dignity, the Jade Emperor did not kill the infant. Instead, he sent him to be raised by the Liu family in the mortal world, named him Liu Nian, and sealed away his immortal meridians and true identity, condemning him to live an ordinary life among mortals. Liu Nian grew up lonely and destitute, and his adoptive father died young, leaving him to wander the world alone. He thought he was destined for a humble, ordinary life, until an unexpected chance brought him under the tutelage of Zhenyuanzi, the Ancestor of Earthly Immortals, and set him on a long journey of cultivation. A cool and gentle senior sister and a steady, dependable senior brother stay by his side. His fellow disciples guide him with care, protecting him as he grows steadily on the path of cultivation and becoming his warmest support in a turbulent world. During his travels through the mortal realm, Liu Nian meets his lifelong friend Su Yanci and the love of his life, Ruan Xinghe. Su Yanci's origins are shrouded in mystery. A prince of the demon realm, he has been hunted since childhood. He breaks free of his fate through countless brushes with death and puts an end to the demon upheaval. Bright and pure-hearted, Ruan Xinghe is blessed with supreme fortune and destined to become the future Lord of All Spirits. She remains by Liu Nian's side through every trial. Meanwhile, a demonic sovereign who is neither wholly good nor evil joins their group, shattering the divide between righteousness and wickedness to stand shoulder to shoulder with them. Liu Nian and his companions travel through the realms of mortals, immortals, demons, and devils, exploring secret realms and overcoming crises. Amid the conflicts of the three realms, they hone their cultivation and strengthen their resolve. As his powers grow, Liu Nian's sealed half-immortal bloodline gradually awakens. The truth of his buried past, the Heavenly Court's cold calculations, and the unjust shackles of the Heavenly Dao are all revealed. Chaos, dormant for countless ages, breaks free of its seal and ravages the three realms, overturning the order of the world. All the heavens teeter on the brink of destruction. Faced with the shackles of the Heavenly Dao and the threat of annihilation, Liu Nian sheds his youthful naivety and joins forces with his teachers, family, friends, confidants, and beloved to defy fate and destroy Chaos. At last, he quells the turmoil across the three realms and restores the order of the world, forging an immense, eternal path to immortality through the determination of a mortal.
