Qian Mingyue was handed a husband and a ruler: “If he misbehaves, hit him.”

At first, the little emperor trembled in fear. “Don’t hit me, Empress.”

Later, the little emperor’s eyes filled with tears. “The Empress hit me again. Who told on me?”

And later still, the little emperor got restless. “The Empress hasn’t hit me in ages. I’m sad.”
