The Workaholic Consort Is Here, Run!

Lihua, the third young lady of the Wu family, is a relentless overachiever. She outdoes her parents at home and the consorts in the palace. Ever since entering the palace selection, she has taken first place in everything, leaving everyone else no chance:

Miss Li, a poised and graceful beauty, looks like a country girl beside her;

Miss Wang, a poetic prodigy, finds every poem she writes turned to trash in comparison;

Miss Sun, a gifted embroiderer, finds Lihua's handkerchief and gives up embroidery for good.

The palace consorts are driven to despair by Lihua's relentless competition. They console one another: thankfully, there is one thing she can't outdo, and that is the current emperor, Yuchi Gong, whose heart is as hard as iron!

Yuchi Gong has an intense aversion to people. No ordinary person can catch his eye, and all he wants is to handle state affairs.

He has no patience for his consorts, and his tongue is a poison-coated blade. The lines "You look like a courtesan" and "Even a bronze mirror can't fit your face" both came from his mouth.

Not a single word is vulgar, yet every sentence cuts to the heart. His consorts suffer miserably under his venomous tongue.

At last, one day, the two most vicious people in the palace clash, and all the consorts excitedly wait for the show.

Yuchi Gong looks at Lihua, who is impossible to fault, and snorts. Picking a fight for no reason, he says, "When you smile, your dimples are asymmetrical."

Lihua's smile does not waver. She asks respectfully, "That is indeed so. Does Your Majesty have any advice?"

In her heart, she curses him: This emperor has something wrong with his head. If the System hadn't forced her to do these tasks, would she be acting so obsequiously?

The consorts watch with bated breath. Here it comes, the prelude to the emperor's sharp tongue.

But unexpectedly, Yuchi Gong changes tack, a smile shimmering in his eyes. "No. I just think it looks quite nice."

All the consorts turn to stone. Your Majesty, where did your sharp tongue go?
